BEST ORAL PRESENTATION

Congratulations to Janice Tay Ee Fang for winning the “Best Oral Presentation” in International Congress on Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome (ICOMES) 2021. The congress was hosted by KSSO between 2 and 4 September 2021. Her title of presentation was “Relationship Between Diet Quality with Weight Status Among Urban Poor Adolescents Living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia”.

ABPA INCREASES GLUCOSE UPTAKE IN L6 SKELETAL MUSCLE CELLS VIA THE ACTIVATION OF P38 MAPK-GLUT4 PATHWAY

for winning the Best Presentation Award out of the 52 posters presented at Asian Symposium of Medicinal Plants and Spices XVII (2021) held on the 18 and 19 August 2021. The title of her poster presentation was “ABPA Increases Glucose Uptake in L6 Skeletal Muscle Cells via The Activation of p38 MAPK-GLUT4 Pathway”.

The event was organised by Malaysian Natural Products Society (MNPS) along with c-organisers such as Institut Kimia Malaysia (KM), Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Phytochemical Society of Asia (PSA) and Japan Analytical Industry Co., Ltd. (JAI).
 

STORAGE STABILITY OF RECOMBINANT LACTOCOCCUS LACTIS NZ3900 IN FERMENTED MILK

For being awarded Champion in the Postgraduate Research Paper Competition – Poster at the 12^th Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT) National Food Science and Technology Competition held on 4-5 August 2021. The title of her poster presentation was “Storage stability of recombinant Lactococcus lactis NZ3900 in fermented milk”.

MEAL CLOCK: MATERNAL CHRONONUTRITION DURING PREGNANCY IS ASSOCIATED WITH BIRTH OUTCOMES

For winning first place for the Poster Free Paper Presentation at the 2^nd National Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Scientific Conference 2021, on 4 to 5 August 2021. The title of her research presentation was “Meal Clock: Maternal Chrononutrition During Pregnancy is Associated with Birth Outcomes”.

SUCCESSFULLY PUBLISHED AN IMPACTFUL ARTICLE

Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr Cheah Shiau Chuen and Dr Siak Pui Yan from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences for successfully publishing an impactful article titled “Current Status and Future Perspectives about Molecular Biomarkers of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma” in the Cancers (Q1, IF 6.639).

The article gives an insight to readers on the progress of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma biomarker discovery to date, as well as future prospective biomarker development and their translation to clinical use.

This research was supported by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS/1/2020/SKK0/UCSI/02/2) and UCSI University Research Excellence and Innovation (REIG-FMS-2020/009).

For their invention Chocolate-based drug delivery for Tetrahydrocurcumin (Fast Melting Tablets).

MPS DUOPHARMA BIOTECH GOLD MEDAL AWARD 2020

Congratulations Ms Tan Puay Luan, B- Pharm batch 2020, PhD candidate, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UCSI University on winning the MPS DUOPHARMA BIOTECH GOLD MEDAL AWARD 2020 at MPS National Pharmacists Convention 2021 which was held from 8^th to 11^th July 2021.

Geoscience Letters is the official journal of Asia Oceania Geosciencces Society, and a fully open access journal published by Springer Nature. The journal publishes original, innovative and timely research letter, articles and concise reviews on studies of the Earth and its environment, the planetary and space science.

Professor Dr Phang is also Assistant Editor of Journal of Applied Phycology (Springer Nature), Editorial Board Member of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Journal as well as Maritime Technology and Research.

SENIOR PROFESSOR TS DR OOI KENG BOON, FASC – MALAYSIAN RESEARCHER PAR EXCELLENCE

Senior Professor Ts Dr Ooi Keng Boon, Dean of UCSI University’s Graduate Business School has received many accolades and awards in the past few years, especially in the fields of Information Systems, Mobile Technology and Technology Adoption.

In recognition of his outstanding academic leadership achievements, Senior Professor Ooi has received the Highly Commended Award in the Research/Academic category from his alma mater, the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia at the Alumnus of the Year Awards Ceremony in 2016. He was also honoured with Malaysia’s Distinguished Researcher Award in 2019 by the Private Education Co-operative of Malaysia (with support from the Ministry of Education Malaysia and Emerald Publishing Limited (UK)).

Additionally, he was Malaysia’s Research Star Award (MRSA) recipient in 2018 and was recognised as one of Malaysia’s most promising and influential researchers presented by both Malaysia’s Ministry of Education and Clarivate Analytics (UK).
