FOUNDER AND CEO OF THE WORLD OF OPTOMETRY

Founder and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The World of Optometry, a youth-led organisation from over 13 different countries aimed to create an impressive and efficient eye health awareness, as well as to improve optometrists’ practice globally in 2020. 

UCSI ENGINEERING STAFF AWARDED IEEE SENIOR MEMBERSHIP

UCSI’s Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment Assistant Professor Ts Dr Lim Wei Hong (deputy dean) and Assistant Professor Dr M.K.A. Ahamed Khan were recently honoured with Senior Membership by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE).

According to Dr Khan, IEEE Senior Membership is an honour bestowed only to those who have made significant contributions to the profession. This award also reflects professional maturity and experience.

Congratulations To Dr M.K.A. PROFESSOR OOI AND DR GARRY’S ARTICLE RECOGNISED BY ELSEVIER

UCSI’s Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) dean, Professor Ts Dr Ooi Keng Boon and Associate Professor Dr Garry Tan Wei Han’s article titled "Wearable Payment: A Deep Learning-based Dual-stage SEM-ANN Analysis" (2020), has been recognised as one of the Most Downloaded Articles in Expert Systems with Applications (Elsevier).  It was co-authored with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman academics Dr Lee Voon Hsien, Dr Leong Lai Ying and Mr Hew Jun Jie.

SUCCESSFULLY PUBLISHED AN IMPACTFUL ARTICLE

Assistant Professor Dr Omotayo Fatokun from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has successfully published an impactful article in the Bulletin of the World Health Organization.

The academic journal ranks as Q1 in Journal Percentile Ranking (Top 10% journal) in the field of Public, Enviromental and Occupational Health with an impact factor of 6.818 (2018), according to the ISI Web of Science ranking by Clarivate Analytics.

The article titled "Fostering local production of essential medicines in Nigeria" explains how regulatory changes are designed to increase local production of essential medicines in Nigeria, thus ensuring predictable and sustainable access to affordable and quality-assured essential medicines and strengthening the domestic pharmaceutical industry.

7TH INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIST AWARDS ON ENGINEERING, SCIENCE AND MEDICINE

Organised by VDGOOD Professional Association, the virtual award ceremony took place in Coimbatore, India on 4 to 5 July 2020. 

Assistant Professor Dr Ashok has more than 12 years of experience in pharmaceutical product development research, mainly in solubility enhancement for poorly soluble drugs through various approaches.

MALAYSIA TECHNOLOGY EXPO (MTE) INNOVATION AWARD 2020

The 19^th Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) Innovation Award 2020 was held from 20 to 22 February 2020. A team of researchers from the UCSI University’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences participated in the expo by exhibiting its innovation called ‘Cocoa Butter: A Healthier Alternative to Fast Melt Tablets’. The researchers for this innovation were Dr Ashok Kumar Janakiraman, Pearly Chia Zhi Qing, Dr. Shiek Abdul Kadhar Mohamed Ebrahim Habibur, Associate Professor Dr Mogana Sundari Rajagopal, and Dr. Liew Kai Bin.

UCSI WINS PLATINUM IN INSIDE 2020

UCSI Lecturers Salini Devi Rajendran, Assistant Professor Ts Dr Siti Norida Binti Wahab (Department of Logistics Management, Faculty of Business Management) and Assistant Professor Dr Yeap Swee Pin (Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, Faculty of Engineering) emerged as Platinum winners in the recent InSIDE 2020. This competition was organised by University of Malaya with the core purpose of sharing the creativity, innovation or design in the educational system.

Salini, Siti Norida and Yeap won the award by presenting their innovation in teaching Logistics courses. They incorporated interest-based assignments to replace the conventional paper-based assessment. In particular, in the course named ‘Issues in Logistics Industry’, students are required to participate in an innovative challenge whereby they need to innovate a variety of physical devices that would be useful in the field of Logistics.

ANOTHER OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE FIELD OF BUSINESS

UCSI University’s Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) dean Professor Ts Dr Ooi Keng Boon and Associate Professor Dr Garry Tan Wei Han’s research paper was recognised as one of the Top Social Media Articles 2019-2020 - 3rd place -  in the Journal Technological Forecasting and Social Change (TFSC) from Elsevier Ltd.
