PROFESSOR OOI’S PAPER IS TOP 1% IN ACADEMIC FIELD OF SOCIAL SCIENCE
Professor Ooi Keng Boon | Faculty of Business and Information ScienceUCSI’s Faculty of Business and Information Science dean Professor Ooi Keng Boon has received two new recognitions for his continuing hard work and dedication in research, particularly on the topic of mobile credit cards.
The first recognition was by Clarivate Analytics which placed his paper ‘NFC Mobile Credit Card: The Next Frontier of Mobile Payment?’ in the top 1% of the academic field of social science. The second was for the same article which was recognised as a Highly Cited Article Paper by the journal Telematics and Informatics, Vol. 31, No. 2, pp. 292-307 (Elsevier, SSCI, JCR-2018, IF = 3.714, Q1-ranked journal). The article was co-authored with Dr Garry Wei-Han Tan, Dr Siong-Choy Chong and Dr Teck-Soon Hew.

PROFESSOR TAJUDDIN RECEIVES 7TH CIVIL SOCIETY AWARD
Professor Dr Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi | School of Architecture and Built EnvironmentUCSI University’s School of Architecture and Built Environment Professor Dr Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi was recently selected as one of three winners of the 7th Civil Society Award 2019 by the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall.
He received the award mainly as a result of two of his books entitled ‘Not The Islam I Know’ and ‘Rethinking Malaysia – Politics, Extremism and Education’. Professor Tajuddin is a proponent of getting communities together and strongly believes that Malaysians should be awarded for fighting for the civil rights of the people.
THEIR PROJECT RECEIVES A GRANT OF RM250,000 BY THE MALAYSIA RESEARCH UNIVERSITY NETWORK (MRUN)
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DR LIONEL IN LIAN AUN and ASSISTANT PROFESSOR DR OH SIEW PEICongratulations to Associate Professor Dr Lionel In Lian Aun (Faculty Of Applied Sciences) and Assistant Professor Dr Oh Siew Pei (Faculty of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts) for receiving a grant of RM250,000 By the Malaysia Research University Network (MRUN) through the Young Researchers Grant Scheme (MY-RGS). Their project was titled ‘A dual-pronged approach to increase production of farmed tilapia using lactococcal-based vaccination and enzybiotic’. A total of 6 research projects were selected from a grand total of 238 applications amounting to RM1.5million.

Assistant Professor Dr M.K.A. Ahamed Khan | Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built EnvironmentUCSI’s Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment Assistant Professor Dr M.K.A. Ahamed Khan recently won the Outstanding Academic Leader Of The Year Award by GISR Foundation and The American College of Dubai. The award was presented at the International Business and Academic Excellence (IBAE) Awards 2019.
UCSI WINS SILVER MEDAL AT 5TH TLIF 2019
Professor Dr Yu Lih Jiun, Professor Dato’ Dr Ahmad Ibrahim and Wan Zailah Wan Said | Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built EnvironmentCongratulations to Professor Dr Yu Lih Jiun, Professor Dato’ Dr Ahmad Ibrahim and Wan Zailah Wan Said for winning the Silver Medal at the 5th Teaching and Learning Innovation Festival (TLIF) 2019 on 4 October 2019.
Their paper title was “Implementation of Experiential Learning Based Assignment in Engineering Management Course”. It discussed the application of new teaching and learning pedagogy in the course “Engineering Economics and Management”.
DR IWAN RECEIVES BEST PAPER AWARD AT ICETIR 2019
Assistant Professor Ir Dr Mahmud Iwan Solihin | Faculty of Engineering, Technology & Built EnvironmentIt was truly an honour and a motivating moment for Assistant Professor Ir Dr Mahmud Iwan Solihin as he received the Best Paper Award at the ICETIR 2019 (International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovative Researches).
Dr Iwan’s paper was entitled “Development of Non-Destructive Mango Assessment Based on Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Machine Learning Regression”.

UCSI WINS SILVER MEDAL AWARD AT MIIEX 2019
Associate Professor Dr Ganeshsree Selvachandran, Dr Mimi Fitriana, Dr Amira Najiha Yahya, Assistant Professor Dr Oh Siew Pei and Assistant Professor Dr Quek Shio GaiUCSI’s Faculty of Business and Information Science (FoBIS) together with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts (FoSSLA) recently collaborated on a project entitled "A Novel Software for Movement Based Early Simulation to Enhance Language Acquisition of Children with ASD".
Their project won the silver medal award for the innovation category at the Melaka International Intellectual Exposition 2019 (MIIEx 2019) which was held at UiTM Cawangan Bandar Melaka.
Team members included Associate Professor Dr Ganeshsree Selvachandran (FoBIS), Dr Mimi Fitriana, Dr Amira Najiha Yahya and Assistant Professor Dr Oh Siew Pei (FOSSLA) as well as Assistant Professor Dr Quek Shio Gai from UCSI College, Kuala Lumpur campus.
