Alumni Forum by the School of Music

Kuala Lumpur, 23 March, 2012 - "The most important skill to develop in the real world is public relations and communication skills," this was the advice given by Tracy Wong at the UCSI University School of Music Alumni Forum held at the University's Recital Hall recently.

The Alumni forum that was successfully organised by the School of Music enabled associate alumni members (current students) to gain a better understanding of the corporate world and the skills needed to succeed in the music industry. The four alumni with different areas of expertise Terence Liew, a  sessionist and keyboardist, who has opened for various prolific events, Evelyn Choong, world harmonica double champion, Carolyn Lo a graduate with a Masters in Piano performance degree and Tracy Wong, a vocalist, accompanist, choral arranger and composer.

The Alumni shared with their peers, the challenges they faced in trying to make ends meet and stressed on the importance of paying attention to all subjects taught ‘as each are equally important and one may not know which will come in handy later said Carolyn, who is also an adjunct lecturer at the UCSI University School of Music. Terence Liew also reiterated, "Student recitals are very important as it helps to build your confidence in public and learn from your mistakes".

This was definitely a forum worth attending, as it equipped students with the knowledge that would encourage them to excel in their studies and in the music industry.

The UCSI University Alumni Network wishes to reach out to its alumni through various programmes, activities and by working with the heads of the faculties to organize fun and educational programmes that would benefit the alumni and its associate members (current students).
