IEEE Drive Talk and Seminar on Engineering Society

IEEE is the world's largest professional society dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, as well as professional and educational activities.

In this talk, students not only gained knowledge on the complete spectrum of the IEEE Society and the importance of being a professional IEEE member, they were also exposed to the essential and exclusive benefits offered to IEEE members including technical information, networking opportunities, career development, and member discounts.

At UCSI, the Engineering Society subject is a faculty subject for all the division students. In the engineering professional world, creating a good network to build a strong career is a must. It is important for those enrolled in this subject to know the value of a professional society and gain knowledge - how to enroll and get the maximum benefit out of it.

The event started with a key note address by UCSI Engineering lecturer Shahid Mansoor. During the key note address, Shahid introduced the event speaker  Assistant Professor Dr Mohamed Khan who is also the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Malaysia Chapter vice chairman and IEEE UCSI student branch counsellor. Dr Khan briefed the audience consisting of 75 Engineering students on the vision, mission and the complete IEEE organisational structure and benefits.

During the speech, Dr Khan motivated the students to be an integral part of society. During his talk the value behind the RAS [Robotic and Automation Society] and the importance of having the UCSI IEEE Students Branch were also addressed.

His speech was well received by the Mechatronic students. More than 30 students showed keen interest to become IEEE members.
