UCSI’s School of Architecture and Built Environment would like to congratulate Ar. Tan Kwon Chong, Ar. Phyllis Wong and Ar. Tan Kah Chuan for obtaining the Professional Architect title (LAM Part 3 Architect). The three alumni of the Architecture Undergraduate Programme at UCSI have commented that whilst the process was challenging, they were ultimately pleased with their success and that it was a huge milestone for them. The attainment of the Professional Qualification, as well as the maintenance of knowledge comes not only from past and on-going experience, but also serves as the reflection of an individual’s ability to develop accurate, safe and efficient solutions to the practical problems of mankind.

UCSI STUDENTS WIN BEST SOLAR CAR AWARD

Ng Weng Mun, Chong Ying Hai and Ngo Kah Lock |  Engineering Students

UCSI University Engineering students Ng Weng Mun, Chong Ying Hai and Ngo Kah Lock won the Best Solar Car Award in the Solar Car Competition 2020 (SCAR’20) organised by MAHSA University. All three students are from the Mechatronics Engineering programme. The participants were divided into seven groups, with three per group where each group had their own solar car.

UCSI Engineering students Harry Hoon Jian Wen (Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering with Honours) and Siah Jing Yi (Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours) were selected as the Top 5 country finalists in the Schneider Go Green Competition 2020 in which their title was ‘Cost effectively reduce carbon emission using PV-BESS system’.

PROFESSOR OOI’S PAPER IS TOP 1% IN ACADEMIC FIELD OF SOCIAL SCIENCE

Professor Ooi Keng Boon |  Faculty of Business and Information Science

UCSI’s Faculty of Business and Information Science dean Professor Ooi Keng Boon has received two new recognitions for his continuing hard work and dedication in research, particularly on the topic of mobile credit cards.

The first recognition was by Clarivate Analytics which placed his paper ‘NFC Mobile Credit Card: The Next Frontier of Mobile Payment?’ in the top 1% of the academic field of social science. The second was for the same article which was recognised as a Highly Cited Article Paper by the journal Telematics and Informatics, Vol. 31, No. 2, pp. 292-307 (Elsevier, SSCI, JCR-2018, IF = 3.714, Q1-ranked journal). The article was co-authored with Dr Garry Wei-Han Tan, Dr Siong-Choy Chong and Dr Teck-Soon Hew.

BEST PAPER AWARD AT THE SEGT 2019!

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Dr Lee Kiat Moon (Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering), Tey Wah Yen (Department of Mechanical Engineering) and Dr Chung Ying Tao (Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering) for winning the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Green Technology (SEGT) 2019 held on 11-14 December in Bangkok.

Dr Lee Kiat Moon's and Tey Wah Yen's paper was entitled: Delignification of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) via Ultrasound-Assisted Deep Eutectic Solvent Pretreatment.

Dr Chung Ying Tao's paper was entitled: Magnetite Activate Carbon/Chitosan Composite from Biomass for Removal of Diclofenac in Aqueous Solution.
